A few scenes of Advent emerging around our home this week...
{pretty}
I've rearranged this mantel about five times and it's still kind of eh but I think it will stay like this until the Christmas decorations come out.
{happy}
I am very detached from the Jesse Tree this year. I was even prepared to not do it at all but the littles very much wanted to so they and the husband have been doing it each night after dinner. It's not super pretty or fancy but they like it, I guess. The boys even took it upon themselves that very first Sunday of Advent to make paper chains that are now hanging next to each of their beds and gleefully torn off each morning when they wake.
Trader Joe's sucked me in and I willingly got sucked. The instructions say it should bloom in 3-5 weeks. Sooo right about Christmas time, I hope.
{funny}
The candles are just hot glued onto a cheap metal plate and as I was taking the shot this happened. #irony
{real}
Our super fancy Christmas book system.
The wrapping each day thing is super cute but I kinda hate wrapping things. These will make their way into a cute basket or box. At some point.
Hope your Advent is going well!

Our Christmas book system is pretty similar ;) The thought of all that wrapping paper in the trash makes me cringe! I might just make some nice cloth sacks and tie them with ribbon next year, or just stick with the "pile covered with a towel" system ;)
ReplyDeleteYour home looks beautiful as always. Where did you get your little manger for baby Jesus? I finally bought a little Jesus and straw setup this year...late of course, I'm still waiting for it to come in. EWTN had a good price on one. I really love your 'prepare' banner too!
ReplyDeleteDo you mean the stable? The one on the shelf is from...Michael's, I think? Like 15 years ago :) The one on the mantel is a Fontanini one that our deacon gave us a few years ago!
DeleteOh I'm sorry, I thought it was one of those little mangers where you add straw throughout advent and then place baby Jesus in the straw filled manger on Christmas day. This would be our first year doing that tradition, but since it hasn't come in yet, we may be starting next year ;)
DeleteWonderful! Your Jesse Tree demonstrates what happens when you start traditions - the kids take over and it becomes effortless for Ma. I am also one of those non-book-wrappers - I have a hard enough time getting the actual gifts wrapped. And I laughed at loud at the candle shot, but you needn't worry about the wayward candles as clearly your beautiful family is making very straight paths for Him. :-) God bless you all!
ReplyDeleteAnd see, I actually enjoy wrapping the books, because unlike every other present that needs wrapping, they are easy!! I love your banner.
ReplyDeleteHa, that is true! Book wrapping is definitely easier than most!
DeleteYes I'm inspired by the ideas of wrapping each book for Advent reads, but realistically I never get to it.
ReplyDeleteI love your minimalist, clean decorations for Advent! And it's super cute that the little ones are doing the Jesse Tree and paper chain traditions themselves :)
ReplyDeleteI think your mantel is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou mantle is lovely! I forget to do a message like prepare! That's an easy way to make that happen!
